CLEVELAND, OH – October 28, 2020 –Scott Mawaka, CEO and President of Fleet Response, was recently recognized by Corporate College as a 2020 Smart 50 Award Honoree. The Corporate College Smart 50 Awards, presented by Smart Business, recognize top executives from the 50 “smartest” companies in the Northeast Ohio region for their ability to effectively build and lead savvy organizations. The awards are based on 3 major categories: Innovation, Impact, and Sustainability.

The Smart 50 Awards ceremony was held virtually on October 27th in celebration of Northeast Ohio’s top executives, and in recognition of their talent to effectively build and lead innovative and “smart” organizations.

Mawaka, alongside his fellow business leader honorees have made a difference in their organizations and the region. Their positive impact on employment has reinvented Northeast Ohio as one of the up-and-coming business regions in the country.

Fleet Response is a family-owned company that was founded by Scott’s father, Ron Mawaka, Sr. in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1986 as Rental Concepts Inc. (RCI). The original focus of the organization was to manage temporary business rentals. In 1997, a division of RCI, Integrated Vehicle Services (IVS) was created to provide new services including, accident and maintenance management and subrogation. In 2003, RCI and Integrated Vehicle Systems combined to create Fleet Response, one company that offers comprehensive custom fleet services. Fleet Response’s service offerings have grown over time in response to evolving client needs.

In 2017, Scott purchased Fleet Response, from the majority shareholders, ensuring the company would remain a privately held family business. Today, Fleet Response has more than 185 employees who provide support for accident, maintenance, and safety programs with more than $170 million in revenue.

Fleet Response has grown steadily based on the value offered to their customers and continue to operate on the founding principles of innovation, professionalism, accountability, and effectiveness. Clients include Fortune 500 companies with fleets ranging from 50 to 25,000 vehicles. With a nationwide network of vendors and more than 30,000 vehicle service providers, Fleet Response clients include insurance companies along with corporate, truck, rental, heavy equipment, and government fleets.
