Employee of the Month: Tom Simon

This month, we’re proud to recognize Tom Simon as our Employee of the Month, and anyone who works alongside him knows just how well deserved this honor is.When asked about the recognition, Tom shared, ā€œI’m grateful for the acknowledgment because it reflects the positive impact being made within the team and the department.ā€ This is actually the third time his colleagues have selected him for this honor. In 2021, he received Employee of the Month twice, proof that his dedication and consistency never go unnoticed.

Always Asking, ā€œHow Can I Help?ā€

As a Senior Maintenance Specialist, Tom supports the team, our clients, and management every day. He helps oversee client maintenance needs to ensure we’re delivering the best service possible. But what really sets Tom apart is his mindset. He believes it’s important to simply ask clients, ā€œHow can I make your day easier?ā€ That small question says a lot about who Tom is, someone who genuinely cares and looks for ways to make a difference.

A Teammate You Can Rely On

Tom is known for being available whenever he’s needed. Whether it’s covering shifts, mentoring new team members, or collaborating with fellow colleagues, he’s ready to step in. His team trusts him, appreciates his support, and knows he’s just a call away.He also believes work doesn’t have to feel stressful. By staying authentic, something his supervisor encourages, Tom helps create an environment that’s positive and enjoyable. That strong team bond doesn’t stop at the workplace either. Many of his colleagues share friendly relationships outside of work, which only strengthens their teamwork.

Recognizing Great Leadership

Tom is quick to credit his previous supervisor, Lindsey Fade, for the department’s success. He describes her as professional, approachable, understanding, and an exceptional leader. With over 35 years of managerial experience himself, Tom has worked with many leaders, and says Lindsey stands out as one of the best. He also shared appreciation for Alisha Butler, calling her a hardworking and dedicated addition to the team. As Tom puts it, the maintenance department is only as strong as the team that was built, and he’s proud to be part of it.

A Work Ethic That’s a Way of Life

For Tom, excellence isn’t about awards. It’s about caring, about your team, your clients, and your relationships. He believes strong work ethic isn’t just motivation; it’s a way of life.

Life Outside of Work

When he’s not supporting the team, Tom is busy building a new home in Florida with his wife of 25 years. At the center of their world is their granddaughter, Liliana, their princess. And here’s something many may not know: Tom does 95% of the cooking for his family. He got his start working at Bob’s Big Boy in the late 1970s, and he still enjoys being in the kitchen today. His go-to favorite? The Slim Jim.
