“It’s truly an honor to be named among Northeast Ohio’s 50 smartest companies,” Mawaka said. “I share this honor with my Executive Leadership Team and all of our employees whose hard work every day focuses on best in class service to the customers we serve.”

Fleet Response is a family-owned company that was founded by Scott’s father, Ron Mawaka, Sr. in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1986 as Rental Concepts Inc. (RCI). The original focus of the organization was to manage temporary business rentals. In 1997, a division of RCI, Integrated Vehicle Services (IVS) was created to provide new services including, accident and maintenance management and subrogation. In 2003, RCI and Integrated Vehicle Systems combined to create Fleet Response, one company that offers comprehensive custom fleet services. Fleet Response’s service offerings have grown over time in response to evolving client needs.

In 2017, Scott purchased Fleet Response, from the majority shareholders, ensuring the company would remain a privately held family business. Today, Fleet Response has more than 185 employees who provide support for accident, maintenance, and safety programs with more than $170 million in revenue.

Fleet Response has grown steadily based on the value offered to their customers and continue to operate on the founding principles of innovation, professionalism, accountability, and effectiveness. Clients include Fortune 500 companies with fleets ranging from 50 to 25,000 vehicles. With a nationwide network of vendors and more than 30,000 vehicle service providers, Fleet Response clients include insurance companies along with corporate, truck, rental, heavy equipment, and government fleets.

Scott and his Executive Team Leadership Team work hard to maintain a family company feel and a positive atmosphere. Their tactics are simple, focus on people in business lines and products, helping clients and employees to succeed.

“When you sell business services, everything starts with people.  Our hard-working employees are the lifeblood of our organization and showing them appreciation is crucial when making superior customer service a competitive advantage in the industry,” said Mawaka.

Congratulations to Scott and all the honorees of the Corporate College Smart 50 Awards. These Northeast Ohio leaders lead their employees toward success and continue to build brighter futures for their organizations. For the full list of honorees, click here.
